The History of Madoc Farm

My husband and I had been living in England but moved to Texas so our daughter, Miriam could grow up in American schools. In 1975 while looking for land that had room for a pony, we attended a Welsh show in Waco, Texas. Madoc Farm began when we won the raffle at this show. Coleman Cowan donated a registered Welsh mare in foal to Bristol Sun God. The resulting filly, Madoc Fair Chance, became an important broodmare and her offspring figure in many of Madoc's Section A's and B's.

In due time, other ponies were added and the school began as a way of having the ponies earn their keep. Over the years Madoc has been blessed with some exceptional instructors and in due course, Miram took over some of the lessons, especially with the tiny children. This interest led her to a degree in kindergarten education and she still teaches here several times a week.
Now with a concentration in both Welsh Mountain Ponies and Section D Cobs, Madoc Farm continues to be a favorite training farm for children in the Houston area. Small children begin their schooling on reliable Section A's and can move on to larger ponies as they progress.
With the addition of trainer Nancy Hinz, who's interest in Dressage has furthered our goals in Cobs, Madoc Farm has become a competitive force, showing at Welsh, Dressage and Hunter Schooling shows.
