The Riding School

Although we don't provide classes in responsibility and self esteem our riding school seems to encourage positive emotional growth in our students. Madoc Farm's riding school has been in continious operation since its beginnings in 1976. Here, children discover the equestrian way of life, learning to groom, tack and bathe their steeds as well as mastering hunt seat equitation and Dressage.

In the summer months, many children bring a lunch and stay all day, helping with chores and taking lessons. Older, more seasoned students have the opportunity to school the younger ponies and cobs, learning and applying the techniques provided by our professional trainers.
We attend both Welsh and Dressage shows and occasionally a hunter schooling show. During each show, students work with their trainers, preparing the ponies and cobs for the ring and encouraging each other to do their best. The ponies and cobs that go to these shows are a combination of those provided by the school and those owned by individual students. Children who have proved their interest and desire to show but do not own their own pony, may be provided one particular pony or cob for the show season. We try to be sure the children and ponies are entered in classes where they will have a successful show.
Our trainers are top notch and include Miriam Williams who has been instructing very young children since she herself was just twelve years old. Miriam's special way with preschoolers is still appreciated at Madoc Farm where she holds classes three times a week.
Nancy Hinz came to Madoc Farm in 1991. She has a special interest in Dressage, riding Madoc Farms' own "Kentchurch Chime" to Grand Prix level competition. Nancy's love for Dressage is contageous and spreading. She has many students riding under her, each mounted on a pony of their own and eager to learn.
Whether your child has a deep seated competitive spirit or just has a bad case of "horse fever", Madoc Farm will provide a wholesome, rewarding experience to last a lifetime. In this world of faster, bigger, better, it's good to be able to ride down a country lane, smell a flower or just talk horses with a new friend.
